SHIP TOWING PEOPLE
1986
PEKELA’S, HOLLAND
1,80 X 2 X 1 METER
BRONZE

These Ship Towing People were a common view along the canals of the Northern provinces of Holland. For many of these boat men and women a horse was too expensive so they towed their ship with peat to town by their own power. Man and woman had some kind of a sling around them with a rope to the mast of the ship. Now they are honoured with this sculpture.
