PEAT PROFILE
1991
WEITEVEEN, SCHOONEBEEK, HOLLAND
4,60 METER LONG
BASALT AND BRONZE

Peat Profile is a visualization of the Post Glacial valley in which in earlier geological times the peat was formed. In this valley the water and lots of plants formed a moor because the water could not escape from the valley. By making a Y-formed shape of basalt columns and putting a plant structured bronze form in the middle Hans Mes has sculpted this theme. This is one of two sculptures to connect two parts of a village as a sculptural element. The other one is on the previous page.
