MILKBOATSMAN
2004
BELT-SCHUTSLOOT, HOLLAND
3,50 METER LONG, 2,50 METER HIGH
COATED STEEL

This sculpture of a Milkboatsman shows a local farmer on the way to his cows or back to his farm. In this region many meadows were divided by canals, which were formerly in use to transport dug out peat. So the cattle could not reach the farm for milking and the farmer had to go to the meadow to milk the cows. The boat has a typical local form called “punter”. This region is very attractive for tourists, which is one of the reasons to have this sculpture placed.
