CLOUDS AND CANALS
1991
OMMELANDERWIJK, VEENDAM, HOLLAND
4,50 X 2,50 X 2 METER
RED COPPER AND WHITE GRANITE

The local landscape around the vicinity of Ommelanderwijk, near Veendam, inspired Hans Mes to make this sculpture. Here long, narrow canals between the meadows disappear in the far horizon and the clouds above this land form an ever changing scenery of forms. The straight canals have been transformed into pointed forms of red copper. The form richness of the sky has been sculpted in three white rough granite clouds.
