CAPRICOLONNA
1992
LANGELAND COLLECTION, MOL, BELGIUM
2,50 METER HIGH
BRONZE, BASALT AND STEEL

Capricolonna is a combination of the word Capricorn and the word colonna, which means column. As a whole it is a sculpture about obstinate, headstrong people. The horns at the top refer to the ox fighting games in Spain. The column suggests an inflexible mind. The chart points back to Odysseus, who used the trick of the Trojan Horse to enter the city of Troy. Obstinate people who don’t want to change their mind are a problem that could only be solved by using some trick.
