This garden sculpture was made for a German collector who works for a chemical company. Hans Mes made him an alchemistic sculpture pointing back to his profession. This Stone of Wisdom from which real water is flowing, is just like the human mind that will always find a dynamic and impressive way through the material world. The pointed red copper forms symbolize the course of atoms. They symbolize the eternal changes between the spiritual and the material world, the cycles of experience and metamorphosis. The form of the stone is a triangle pointed downward, the alchemist symbol of water. The spot where the water falls down has the form of a triangle pointed upward to symbolize the receptive element, the earth, our fellow-man. The water stands for the human mind as a source of inspiration and creativity.
