BORGERCOMPAGNIE, HOLLAND
4,75 METER HIGH
COATED STEEL

This sculpture shows three people, who are connected to each other. It was placed near the local pub of Borgercompagnie, which is a meeting place for the inhabitants of Borgercompagnie and the people who visit it. Therefore the three human figures symbolize the three main types of inhabitants of Borgercompagnie: The Farmers, the Citizens who chose to live here too in the past when peat was found here and the Foreigners who liked the countryside as their new place to live. The figures are composed of structured flat surfaces and long lines to emphasize the lands structure since peat was dug here and transported to town by ships through the canals. On the structured surfaces the colours blue and copper stand for water and earth.
