The title of the artwork “I Wish You Fish Every Year” is based on a Chinese idiom which expresses the wish of prosperity and abundance. The image represents a carp that, as the symbolism wants, jumps against the stream to express strength and perseverance. The fish was placed in a flowing river that was temporarily drained especially for placement. The fountain spouts in the direction of a typical Chinese bridge.
